We are renovating!
The library will be closed for what we expect to be four to six weeks for renovations! We are having new flooring installed throughout the entire building. Our carpet has been buckling for awhile now despite being re-stretched and is past the point of ever being clean again. It’s time for new floors! We are excited to be installing new vinyl flooring that looks like wood. And we thought while all the books are off the shelves it was also time to replace the 40-something-year-old shelving. You can barely stand a book on the tops of the shelving in the children’s area – they are warped like crazy.
Another change you will see is the movement of the adult and teen fiction sections from upstairs to downstairs. We are moving non-fiction upstairs to the balcony area. Because we don’t have an elevator, those patrons with mobility problems have been unable to access our more popular fiction section because it is located on the second floor. We are hoping our patrons will be better served with the move and be able to choose their own books off the shelf instead of staff bringing them books from the second floor.
So, we expect the project to take between four to six weeks – fingers crossed and all goes well. We hope you will be thrilled with our new look when we re-open our doors. We will try to keep you updated here on our brand-new website and on our facebook page. In the meantime, if you have borrowed books from us, hold onto them until we re-open. Books borrowed in the three weeks before our closure are not due back until March 1. Our book drop will only be open until Jan. 12. After that time we won’t have access to the bookdrop until renovations are complete. Watch for staff members at information kiosks at Safeway and the Co-op mall. We hope to share information about what your library has to offer and hear any suggestions you might have for our library. Drop by and say hi!
